Dintel boating route

Head gently out of the marina onto the Dintel, eastwards, through a landscape of reed beds, meadows and plenty of birds. The calm water makes this an ideal trip for a relaxing day.
- Picnic jetties: moor up for lunch or a short break.
- Swim stop: there are several quiet spots for a swim (watch out for passing boats).
- Nature: spot herons, geese and maybe even a kingfisher.
Return trip: turn back in time so you are back within your rental period. Go slowly and be considerate of other water users.

What are the conditions?
- Minimum age: 18.
- The skipper must be sober at all times.
- No boating licence needed.

Keep an eye on how much time you have left and make sure you are back on time. This avoids extra charges and lets the next trip leave on time. Don't forget your valuables; you can leave rubbish in the bin by the landing stage.
Rules and tips while boating
- Pull away gently: the boat responds a little slowly, so don't open the throttle too far straight away.
- Keep to the right on the water, but don't sail too close to the bank.
- Commercial vessels, canoes, SUPs and sailing boats have right of way.
- Avoid water plants and don't pass too close to anglers. If something gets caught in the propeller, the boat will stop or slow down.
- Electric boat: when using the swimming ladder, put the throttle in neutral (0) and press the red emergency stop. The propeller will then stop.
- Finished boating? End your booking as soon as the electric boat is back at the jetty. This stops the timer for your boating time.
The boat suddenly slows down. What now?
The boats slow down slightly during the day as the batteries run down. If the boat suddenly slows down, something may be caught in the propeller:
- Put the throttle in neutral (0) and wait 5 seconds.
- Put the throttle fully into reverse for 5 seconds, until the boat moves backwards.
- Put the throttle back in neutral (0) and wait 5 seconds.
- Gently move the throttle forward again.
Repeat if necessary. This clears water plants and other debris from the propeller.
The motor cuts out or makes a loud noise
Motor cuts out: usually the motor has overheated, often because the boat has been running for a long time with something caught in the propeller. Put the throttle in neutral (0) and press the emergency stop. Wait 5 minutes and turn the emergency stop slightly to the right until it clicks back. First reverse gently for 5 seconds, then go forward gently. Don't go full throttle straight away; the motor is still cooling down.
Loud noise from the propeller or motor: usually there is too little weight at the back and the propeller draws in air. Move luggage or people towards the back.
What if the weather is bad?
In case of rain or thunderstorms you can move your booking to another date free of charge.
